Female Football Program

The South Coogee Junior Football Club's All-Girls football program was launched in 2017.  In 2018 we had our first all-girls Year 7/8 team and they proved to be a great success with their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. The girls demonstrate passion, determination and mateship that is rivaled by none. In 2021 and 2022 we had five teams in the competition with girls between school years 3 and 12 participating.

Each year the number of girls joining the Club has grown, while at the same time we have seen great development in their skill level.  In 2019 our inaugural Year 9/10 girls team took out the premiership, and in 2020 the club took out the premiership again. In 2021 many of our girls again had the opportunity to play finals with our Yr 11/12 team runner up in the grand final, then in 2022 our Year 11/12 girls won the Peel Districts Championship. 

The club focus' on the development of our players and has assisted players to develop talent pathways into other avenues of the game, with players progressing to the South Fremantle development and Rodgers Cup teams, State Teams and playing league for clubs such as South Fremantle and Claremont. The club is also proud to have a number of our girls entering the umpiring ranks. This is a great way to maintain their fitness, develop their understanding of the game and secure a great employment opportunity.

 In 2024 the club fielded teams in the Yr7/8, Yr9/10 and Yr11/12 competitions, with all three teams experiencing finals, and our Yr 11/12's taking out the premiership for the season. In 2025 the club will continue to invest and expand our female program and will look to have teams in each age group.  The club will again run an introductory girl's football program in February 2025.
