Players Footy Pledge (Code of Conduct)
By registering as a player of South Coogee I agree to abide by the following principles:
•To play by the rules (of both the laws of the game and the rules of my club).
• Never argue with an official. If I disagree, I will talk my coach after the game.
• I will control my temper. I understand verbal abuse of officials or other players, or provoking an opponent is not acceptable.
• I will work equally hard for myself and for my team. Through this my team’s performance will benefit and so will I.
• I will be a good sport. Acknowledge all good plays whether they are by my team, opponent or the other team.
• I will treat all players as I would like to be treated. I will not interfere with, bully or take unfair
advantage of another player or team mate.
• Cooperate with my coach, team mates and opponents. Without them there would be no
competition.
• Play for the “fun of the game” and not just to please parents and coaches.
• I will avoid using derogatory language and actions.
• I will be prepared to take responsibility for my actions.
I will support the Club in its undertakings and encourage the Club to take any necessary disciplinary actions including the suspension and banning where warranted of any players for repeated or serious breaches of the Code of Conduct.
Parent's / Guardian's Footy Pledge (Code of Conduct)
By registering my child at South Coogee JFC I agree to abide by the following principles:
- To Encourage my child to participate.
- To encourage my child to always participate according to the rules
- To never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
- I will remember that children learn best from example.
- If I disagree with an official, I will raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than questioning the official’s judgment and honesty in public.
- I will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
- I will recognise and respect the value and importance of volunteer coaches.
- I will remember that children play organised sports for fun. They are not playing for the entertainment of spectators, nor are they miniature professionals.
- I will not encourage the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
- I will encourage players to follow the rules and the umpire’s decisions.
- I will demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, harassing players, coaches or umpires.
I will support the Club in its undertakings and encourage the Club to take any necessary disciplinary actions including the suspension and banning where warranted of any parties for repeated or serious breaches of the Club's Code of Conduct.
Coach & Team Manager Footy Pledge (Code of Conduct)
As a Coach or Team Manager at South Coogee I agree to abide by the following principles:
• To be reasonable in my demands on young player’s time, energy and enthusiasm.
• To avoid overplaying talented players. Where possible all players need and deserve equal time.
• I will demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, harassing players,
coaches or umpires.
• I will remember that children participate for fun and enjoyment.
• I will ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the players.
• I will take into consideration the maturity level of the children, when scheduling and determining the length of practice times and competition.
• I will develop and promote team respect for the ability of opponents as well as for the judgement of officials and opposing coaches
• I will ensure positive coach-umpire relationships are continually displayed.
• I will follow the advice of a physician when determining when an injured player is ready to
recommence training or competition.
• I will keep myself informed of sound coaching principles and the principles of growth and
development of children and young athletes.
• I will create opportunities to teach appropriate sports behaviour as well as basic skills.
• I will ensure that skill learning, and appropriate sports behaviour have priority over highly
structured competitions for children and young people.
• I will help children and young people understand the responsibilities and implications of their freedom to choose between fair and unfair play.
• I will ensure knowledge of the laws of the game such that I will encourage the players to play the game in the spirit intended and accept the role of the umpire.
